A Night At The Opera - Don Giovanni

We attended an Opera performance of Don Giovanni at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre on Saturday evening!   It was a great performance and very interesting.  The stage was well set, with a few changes occasionally, and the costumes were beautiful.  The music along with the singing was very moving, emotional and captivating.   The story well played out on the stage and I felt that it draws you into another time and place.   A memorable experience indeed!

Don Giovanni

by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Widely regarded as the greatest opera ever composed, Don Giovanni tells of the devious schemes and hijinks of history’s most beguiling scoundrel, Don Juan.  Mozart’s anti-hero has a personality so engaging that audiences root for him, even as his dark side emerges.  Don Giovanni is a brilliant combination of comedy and tragedy, set to music of limitless genius.  Sung in Italian with English Supertitles...

 This is a beautiful facility!

This was our second opera attendance.
Our first was Lucia di Lammermoor - Madly in love.  I've included some info from that event!

I recommend you see at least one opera in your lifetime!  I know that some people might think that they may not enjoy seeing an opera.  We started liking classical/opera style music and singing a few years ago, and this is what has made the opera experience even more enjoyable for us!

One thing leads to another!

Marty came in with a CD of music by Katherine Jenkins and he said "she sings like an angel", and may I add she is a beautiful woman, and I felt it had to be mostly that this was the appeal for him more than her singing.  I said to him "if you like her, you should like, and listen to Sarah Brightman.  She is a very beautiful woman also and I think she sings like an angel!"   I was surprised he had not heard of her, she is a famous English classical crossover soprano singer. Well from there, a few days later we watched her performing one afternoon on GPTV promoting her Symphony: Live in Vienna DVD and Symphony CD.  As we were watching the Symphony performances, at one point she introduced Alessandro Safina, also very attractive himself, he's quite the handsome Italian, and after listening to him we both had now found a new vocal interest.  Of course we have always liked Andrea Bocelli, he too does a duet on the CD with Sarah Brightman and we have since grown even more fond of his work also.  Maybe it stems from our love of Jazz over the years, I don't know, but it is mood music in a whole different kind of way, something that you can feel.  As in the emotion in the way Alessandro Safina sings.  It gets deep inside your soul, and it touches your heart!  Have a listen and see for yourself why I say that.  I dare you not to feel it!

Enjoy!
