Here's a super easy project for you! Make a Fringed Infinity Scarf from a T-shirt!
Isn't it cute? I sure think so!
I have made another type of scarf from a t-shirt before, and I believe this one is even easier to make!
I've made a few of these now, and have them in different colors.
As you can see!
It's easy to make these and in no time you can add an extra punch of color to your outfits. Most of the craft stores sell basic t-shirts and they are inexpensive. I picked up a couple youth t-shirts at the dollar store for these. I just really liked the colors, so I grabbed them up. I think these scarves would be good to wear anytime and any season, they would look nice over a plain t-shirt in the summer too.
This is so easy you can even have the kiddos help, and they can also make their own, I just recommend supervision with the cutting process, or have an adult do that part!
Begin by cutting just under the sleeve and cut a straight line across to the same place on the other side.
I made a chalk mark at about three inches from the cut edge, this was my cut-to guide line.
I just eye-balled approximately a half inch, and made all my cuts about the same.
Carefully continuing to cut all across the top layer only and don't cut the underside at the same time. Then move the cut fringe out of the way to do the rest of the cutting underneath, or flip over then cut that side. Remember to move the fringe out of the way from the other side, so you don't cut it.
The cuts don't have to be precisely perfect, just try to stay consistent. The edges of the fringe won't be noticeable later, you'll see.
Now pull and stretch each piece firmly but carefully, don't pull too hard, it might tear or break if you do!
Continue to pull and stretch each of the cut pieces.
You'll notice they are a little longer now than they were. And they curl-up.
It should look like this after stretching each cut piece and forming the fringe.
This one started out measuring about 11 inches, and the cuts were made at about the 3 inch mark. The finished measurement was about 12 inches in length, with about a 4 inch fringe.
This one started out measuring about 13 inches, and the cuts were made at about the 4 inch mark. The finished measurement was about 14 inches in length, with about a 5 inch fringe.
I recommend that you wash your fringed scarves before wearing because they'll have some lint shedding after cutting the fringe, and washing will take care of that.
Now just imagine all the color choices out there to choose from!
