Easter Family Fun!

I sure enjoyed having the family here for Easter!  Our Daughters, Son-in-law, a family friend, and also the Granddaughters.  After having a puppy emergency, our original plans to travel to Greenville were changed, and we are so grateful that our Daughter & Son-in-law brought everything here to make a delicious Easter feast! Burgers, Baked Beans, Macaroni Salad, Chips & Salsa, Sweet treats too!  The grands enjoyed their Easter baskets and goodies within.  Some fun spent outdoors and blowing bubbles was enjoyed until they were gone, then I or as my oldest Granddaughter said "Grandma performed magic and made some more bubbles!" All three pups, Aeon, Dallas and Windsor pups had a great time playing together all day, and running through the back yard and entertaining all of us!  Our Son-in-law took photos of much of the fun and all of the characters!

Sweets for my sweet girls!
Easter Baskets made for the Grands.
I included more fun toy items, not just candy. They loved them! Those "Hello Kitty" Bunnies are adorable. I also found "Hello Kitty" PEZ and they had bunny ears too.

Concert - Eric Clapton

Wow, we certainly enjoyed going to the Eric Clapton concert last night.  I had gotten tickets for this concert back at the end of November to give to Marty as a special present last Christmas.  I also got him an Eric Clapton CD and attached the tickets to the back of it, it was an extra added surprise when he unwrapped the CD gift.  The concert was at the Gwinnett Arena in Duluth, GA.  Located just minutes from us.  It's a smaller, or shall I say, more intimate Arena that holds about 13,000.  We had great seats with a nice view of the stage!  The Wallflowers were the opening performers, lead by guitarist Jakob Dylan(Bob Dylan's son) and they were good.  I enjoyed their time on stage, especially seeing them do "Sixth avenue heartache" and "One head light" live.

Let me tell you the Eric Clapton performance was totally fantastic!  He opened with "Hello old friend", then from there played a variety of his collections and thoroughly entertained the crowd with some awesome rockin' and bluesy sounds!  He is quite the guitarist, and there he was guitar in hand, always playing one type or other.  He played some songs from the unplugged album too, "Layla" and "Tears in Heaven", I must admit during this one I got a little teary eyed myself, and saw that a few others had as well! In light of what the song is about(the death of his son) and a recent personal family loss in my family.  Paul Carrack of the band Squeeze, was on piano for Clapton and performed his '80s hit "Tempted" and also sang lead on a couple others, "How long" and "Ain't it high time we went."  One of our favorite -Our song's- is "Wonderful tonight", and it was a pure joy to be there seeing and hearing it live!

We really enjoyed the concert, and this may have been one of the best we've ever seen, or at least the best we've seen in a long time!  Eric Clapton is a very impressive performer, especially at the age of sixty-seven, well actually he'll be sixty-eight in just a couple of days since he was born on March 30th, 1945.  A Happy 68th Birthday wish to Eric Clapton!  Again, like I said before, very impressive!

five Below is pretty hot!

Often, when I find something new or that I deem worthy of sharing, I can't wait to share it with others!
I recently noticed that a new store had opened up nearby which I hadn't heard of before. The local Jo-Ann store had down sized a short while back(much to my dismay), and what was once their large store, was now two separate stores.  I had mentioned to my daughter my disappointment of their downsizing and that I had noticed the new place was called five Below.  She raved about five Below and how it was a type of dollar store, except everything is five dollars and under, or five below!  "Oh, five below, I get it now!" I said.  Funny, I was thinking it was winter gear as in five below zero or something?  I had envisioned ski gear, winter sports equipment and such, along with hats, scarfs and boots.(Uh, I think the winter has gotten to me, it's been too cold, what can I say ?)

Well, I knew I had to go check it out for myself, and in doing so quickly found that I liked it!  At five Below everything in fact is from $1 to $5 dollars!  There are many great items to be had there, personal items, bath & body, makeup, and hair accessories.  Sports goods, team gear, toys & games.  Party goods, candy and snacks.  Room decor, organization supplies, office and school supplies.  Media items-cell phone cases, headphones & speakers, video games and DVDs, and so much more.

I noticed that five Below also sold gift cards for $5 and $10 or you can choose your own amount.  They even have some craft supplies! This proved handy for me because I had planned to start on shopping for my Easter basket goodies for the grands, and found some great stuff there for those.  Quite pleased with that for sure, and since much of the items were better than what you might find at the dollar store.  This is one of those 'change is good' moments for me...I was disappointed by loosing part of a favorite store, but now I've gained something to like and enjoy!  Check them out at fivebelow.com, you may find one near you, and that you like it too!

A few items from my visit to five Below:

I thought this cute little computer lamp would be great for those late night blogging sessions.  It attaches via a USB port, and you can twist it to any position.  Also I really like the color! Cost: $5

When I saw this dish drying mat I got the idea that it might be great to use for stepping onto, out of the shower.  It measures 19" x 16" and I sure do like the color of it too! Cost $3

The many cell phone accessories were a pleasant unexpected find, like this case! Cost: $5

I think the Grands will enjoy these cute Barbie and Disney Princesses kites! Cost: $2 each

These bamboo baskets will be perfect to fill with goodies to make
fun Easter Baskets too! Cost: $1 each

And a few sweet treats to add to those baskets. Cost: $3

I'm sure I'll be wanting another visit to five Below before very long!...

Our Little Guy Aeon 7 - 9 wks

More tales of Aeon
After getting Aeon settled in for his first weekend with us and getting familiar with his new home, we took him for his first meeting with the Veterinarian for a well check on Monday March 4th.  All was well although the Vet detected a slight heart murmur.  He explained to us that it was nothing to be concerned about, and often happens with puppies, also saying he wouldn't be surprised at all if it wasn't detectable at Aeon's next check-up.  Again, he emphasized at this point, it was nothing that we should be concerned about!  Other notes of importance were, Aeon's fecal test was negative, and also he was given a De-worm.  At this first meeting with the Vet, Aeon was thoroughly checked out and told to be overall very healthy.  Everyone there fell in love with him of course, and he enjoyed all of the attention!  This is a new Vet for us, and we were very impressed with the facility and staff, and the Vet in particular!  We scheduled our next appointment for March 18, for the next series of vaccinations.
Aeon - 7 weeks
And his weight was 12lbs.

March 4th - 7 wks

We are crate training Aeon, and he is starting to go into the crate on his own and sleeps on his comfy bed for his nap time too.  The crate training is going well, and we have only had a few potty accidents in the first few days.  Now he seems to proudly want to do "his business" outside and get those "good boy" praises and yummy rewards.  I've found that he does well with no accidents indoors if reminded on about a two hour window since last being outside. We are doing short daily training sessions with the leash.  Aeon does 'Sit' on command and 'Down'-(with a little persuasion).  The leash is often more of a play thing or something to chew at, so I do often let him think he is walking me for a short while, and then he goes about "his business" and leaves the leash alone.  Treats are rewarded after doing a good job!  He loves those!  He is sleeping through the night in the crate, and doing well with a scheduled routine of eating, and going outside.  We have some bells hanging on the back door knob and are teaching him to ring them before going outside.  He's seems to be getting it, and really loves those praises of "Good Boy!" and the treats that follow, he will sit and wait for the treats to be given!  I think we have recovered from the lack of a full nights sleep for a while, but he is so worth any unpleasant thing thus far! He is such a joy!

March 7th - 8  wks

Aeon loves his little Monkey buddy and got tired after a long play session with him.  Nap time is even better like this!

March 7th - 8 wks

~ * ~

On Aeon's second visit to the Vet on Monday, March 18th, he was given his next series of vaccinations.  The Vet did not hear any heart murmur and that was certainly great news!  Aeon was said to be doing very well, and was a healthy pup!  The Vet also told me to keep doing what we are doing with him and he was impressed with his good behavior.  We will start heart-worm prevention meds on April 1st and have another check-up scheduled for mid April.  It seems like our little guy is growing by the minute!
Aeon - 9 weeks
14lbs

March 14th - 9 wks

The crate training is going very well and Aeon is starting to ring the bell on the door, on his own now to indicate wanting to go outside!  He is learning that there are always special treats along with lots of "Good Boys" when he does succeed.  He sure loves to chew, as do all puppies, so we are on guard with lots of toys to divert the attention away from anything that is not allowed to be chewed!  He is very happy to please, and doesn't like that 'NO' word!  Making good progress so far!  Aeon seems to recognizes the words Daddy and/or Mommy, and with great enthusiasm approaches us, especially after being away from him!  Aeon gets quite excited when I say "Daddy's home" and eagerly awaits the opening of the door to see him enter, then with great amounts of tail wagging he shows his happiness and affection.  The leash training is still going well with less playing with the leash, especially when he has 'his business' to do.  We continue to give him lots of "Good Boy" praises and treat rewards for doing a good job!

This is the cute face I see when he is waiting on a treat for being a good boy!

Too funny!  "Hey I look like a German Shepard!"

Aeon has a new buddy, a little lamb, we call him Mr. Lamb.  He loves to play with Mr. Lamb and carry him around, chew on him and take him in and out of the crate.

March 14th - 9 wks

Aeon loves to have Mr. Lamb near, even when he takes a nap or goes night-night!
March14th -  9 wks

Mr. Lamb is good to cuddle with too!
So sweet!
March 14th - 9 wks

Aeon had a bath, and then a fun towel dry session afterwards made it all worth it. A little brushing time outside and he is all groomed and fluffy.
He sure is a handsome boy!

March 17th - 9 wks

March 17th - 9wks

"Mommy kept me safe in a laundry basket along with Mr. Lamb on the way to see the Vet since there wasn't anyone to hold me!"

March 20th

Feeling a little sleepy, and looking like he's about to fall asleep!
March 20th

Yep! ...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Just having a lazy early morning with his buddy Mr. Lamb.
March 21st - 9wks
He's getting big so fast!

We absolutely adore and love our little Aeon, and he is more than anything we could have hoped for.  In the short period of time that we've had him, he has brought us so much joy!

A Visit from Mom & Dad

So often you hear "It's the simple things in life!"

So true that is!  Sometimes the simplest thing can make a day even better.  It makes for a real good day when you get to have something that you often don't get to have too.  Well, I had just that with getting to have Mom & Dad here for a little visit.  They were able to get away from their normal surroundings in Indy to visit Florida to meet their first great-great granddaughter this week.  They came through here on their return home.  It was so good to see them and to have them here with us.  They both look real good, and it's hard to believe they are great-great grandparents now!

I had a nice dinner out with them, my Daughter, and also Hubby met us there since he was just in from a flight from California for business.  We had some delicious steaks and such at the local Texas Roadhouse, along with conversation and a few good laughs.  A little more visiting time back at the homestead, along with being entertained by two very energetic pups, Aeon and Dallas playing in full on happy puppy mode!  Those two are non-stop tumblings of fur!  Our Daughter and Dallas-pup had to leave to get home, and it was then get-to-bed time shortly after that for the rest of us.

Mom and Dad planned to leave in the morning since the weather forecast wasn't good for over the next couple of days and they had at least a days drive, maybe two.  A little morning coffee time for Mom, Dad and I and it was then time for them to get on the road for their drive home.  The time came and went by too fast, but it was so good to have them here for a visit!

Although short, it was certainly sweet! ...

SPRING-ing Forward

It's that time of year again, the Spring forward time change.
Spring is right around the corner and you can feel it in the air.  I love it! Just a few more days and it will be official.  I see all of the signs, lots of daffodils popping up with their yellow and white sun happy blooms.  The trees are beginning to show their buds and hints of color are everywhere.  I anticipate the arrival of Spring from Summer's end onward.  My two favorite seasons are now before me and that makes me very happy!

~ * ~

So bring on the sunshine and I'll handle the rain,
bringing beautiful fragrant flowers to enjoy again.
New life seen in the buds and green on the trees.
The sun's welcomed warmth will be felt in the breeze.

The songs of the birds and a buzz of the bee.
A delight of sounds and there's so much to see.
Enjoying all of the many things it will bring.
Oh how I love the season of Spring

Happy Spring!...
