Welcome to Tips, Treats & Treasures.

Hello.  I'm Tammy, the blogger behind Tips, Treats & Treasures, a home and DIY blog.  I am so happy you stopped by.  I hope you'll make yourself comfortable while you visit with me as I share things I love, helpful tips, family-favorite recipes, a variety of crafts, DIY, thrifty finds, ideas on decorating, lifestyle, and making our house a home we love.

I want to share my knowledge in a fun visual way with everyone who also enjoys all things Home, DIY, crafts, recipes and home decor.  I enjoy the satisfaction and sense of accomplishment that comes from creating something, and being able to say: "I made that!"  I enjoy sharing my creations, and I'm excited to be able to do that here.  Hopefully I can inspire others to tap into their own creativity while also helping them save some money in the process.

For as long as I can remember, I have felt the need to create or be creative.  If I don't have at least one project going on, I feel restless!  When I'm not doing the "life chores" or things that I probably should be doing, you'll find me working on decorating or redecorating my home, making jewelry, taking pictures, or perhaps pursuing some other crafty endeavor, looking for my next trash-to-treasure item to repurpose and relove, or maybe in the kitchen whipping up something tasty to eat.

When I tell people I'm a blogger, I think some have the notion that I sit around all day in my pj's at my computer.  Of course, I could be able to do that, and there may be some truth to that.  However, in reality a lot of what goes into my blog is action, through doing the creative stuff, along with the writing and putting it all together, and then there is the photography aspect, so you get the picture, get the picture?  I can't image that any blog would be worth visiting if there were no visuals, or all photos and nothing more!  There is a balance of different things that go into doing a blog.  I try to divide my time well with all aspects of my blog, the creating, writing and photography, and provide something that I am proud of and enjoy, that will also be enjoyed by those who visit.

~My place to share my time, thoughts, and ideas with family and friends both old and new.  A reference of the many things I enjoy doing, seeing, creating, making, cooking, eating and more.  A place for sharing tips, treats, and treasures...

~Tips~simply put, is where I share helpful tips and tricks.  FYI on products that I feel you just have to know about. Dishing the dirt on dirty things in life or how to clean them up.

~Treats~, here you'll find recipes and food goodies, savory to sweet.  I love to try out new recipes and often develop creations of my own, and also re-create recipes from foods I've seen or tasted elsewhere, or while dining out.

~Treasures~, here you'll find things to treasure.   Crafty projects to make and enjoy, or give as gifts.  Helpful tutorials.  Ideas on decorating.  Thrifty finds, trinkets, and trash-to-treasures.  Some of my hand-made jewelry pieces.   Inspiration for getting your 'craft' on!

As I found myself to be at the empty-nester phase of life, I began filling my days using my creative talents by doing the many things I love and enjoy.  Decorating or redecorating, crafts and DIY projects, visiting resale, thrift and antique shops in search of finding trash-to-treasure items to reuse or repurpose, and relove.  Also finding economical ways to achieve the look I want and making my home beautiful in the process.  My decorating style could best be described as contemporary with a traditional twist, along with a touch of an eclectic and dash of casual country blend.  I love mixing textures and neutrals and adding just a touch of color.  I also love just about anything that sparkles.  I mostly follow my own unique, 'I like it' style!

Tips, Treats & Treasures started as a hobby for myself, a place where I could be creative and share simple ideas on all things helpful, crafty, tasty, and treasured.  I'm a simple gal and I like simple things. I like spending less while getting more.  Especially with decorating and making my home beautiful and comfortable, because everything doesn't have to cost a fortune to do so.  I love pretty things, and it's so gratifying to make them.  Creating and designing for me is a passion, and enjoying something I've made and liking the end result fulfills my creative soul. My goal for this blog has been to share with others. A little gathering place for sharing and inspiration, and just knowing that you might be visiting here, reading my posts and looking for some inspiration keeps me going. Not only do I enjoy sharing my creative ideas here, I also share little snippets of my life along the way!  Especially with some doting on my family, my Husband-my Guy-the Hubby-and who I often fondly refer to as the Hunkband, when I am being nice and he hasn't been naughty ;), my life's pride - my daughters and my granddaughters, and our precious pooch, too!  I invite you to share in my adventures in creating, and in life.  All those crazy, wonderful moments that happen along the way.

FAQ:

Who am I?:  I am the proud mother of two girls who have grown into wonderful, intelligent and beautiful young women, who are now two of my closest friends.  Wife to my life long friend and high school crush, who I'm still crushing on after 39 years.  They are what I live for and what I have devoted most of my adult life to.  And, last but certainly not least, grandmother to four of the cutest and sweetest little ladies/characters that I adore and crave hugs from daily.  And, when they say "I love you Grandma", it truly touches my heart!  I'm also mommy to a four-legged pup, a most handsome creme-golden retriever named Aeon {like Ian}, weighing about eighty-five to ninety pounds, who fills our life with much joy, entertainment and unconditional love, along with an abundance of kisses everyday.

My favorite things?:  A few of my favorite things...Sunshine and warmth by day {each and every day would be nice, although I do enjoy a good rain once in a while also}, along with bright limitless stars at night.  Spring and Summer!  I'm a lover of coffee, food, and red wine...oh and chocolate. - I like to think there is nothing that a bit of chocolate can't fix! Or maybe a glass of wine?  I love hearts and the heart shape. Yep!  It's my favorite! - I have a pretty big heart inside me, and I also think my heart smiles a lot, too.  Live, Laugh, Love is my favorite phrase. - Live every moment / Laugh every day / Love beyond words, are meaningful words to live by.  Above all else family and friends, they are the greatest gifts in life!  I am truly blessed to have the love of my family and friends.

My inspiration?:  I find inspiration from many different sources. Magazines, Blogs, Pinterest, etc.  I enjoy learning new ideas and sharing them, so when I do I like to pass them on.  I hope that I too can inspire others and also encourage their inner creativity, or help nudge them in the right direction.  I certainly don't have all the answers, but I feel I do learn something new just about everyday.  And, I'm open to and always welcome new ideas, thoughts on life, and ways to improve upon it.   I enjoy many different things, and I believe that so often it's the little things in life, that make life big!

~I've always considered myself a creative person. I enjoy creating and find it gratifying when a project is completed. I have tried many crafts and hobbies over the years. I've been crafting my own jewelry for a while now and it has become a favorite hobby, and craft! I look forward to sharing some of my finished projects here.  This blog has led me to learning more about digital art design and digital photography, as I am also learning to have a greater eye for detail and taking better pictures.

~I love home decor and looking for new ideas, and items for my home. I enjoy DIY and taking a creative approach to making something.  I also enjoy reusing or re-purposing items and changing them into something that is my own, or more to my taste.   It's great to find treasures and thrifty items that I can give a new life, make them look completely different, fresh and new.  Or making a new item look different, aged or vintage.  These treasures add to making my home unique, and I feel it is a nice reflection of me, and my taste.    I've learned that it doesn't have to cost a fortune to decorate a home.  You can design and decorate on a budget, and still buy quality pieces.  As a home owner I've also learned that a home is a "work in progress" most of the time, that's for sure.

~I also love to eat! My favorites are Italian and Mexican food. It's nice to get dressed up for an evening out all alone with my guy, or with friends to dine at one of our favorite places for dinner, or to try a new place. Been eating out far too much lately (or shall I say, eating far too much), so I am trying to spend a little more time in the kitchen and trying new recipes.  I am also hoping to succeed at eating healthier and cooking lighter, leaner meals. I've been experimenting with some Italian cookbooks that have me wishing I was born Italian. Garlic!...need I say more?

~It is my hope that this blog will be a source of information and enjoyment for those who read it, and it will perhaps encourage their inner creativity.  A place to share a bit of myself, who I am, and my passions.  Written with the best of intentions, to share, inform and inspire. With some seriousness, a touch of humor, perhaps a bit of sarcasm, an overuse of the exclamation point - because I just get so excited sometimes!!!, and maybe even a few of my made-up words now and then.  Because that would be fantabulific!  And, I'd truly love it if visiting here gives you a good laugh, and it makes you smile!

Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing a little time with me.

I hope you enjoy visiting Tips Treats & Treasures.

Have a wonderful day,

~Tammy
