Grands Weekend

We enjoyed having the grands visiting with us!

Aeon 6 months / 27weeks

It's getting close to almost a month since my last post on our boy Aeon.  The joy of this dog's life is usually seen in his smile(which I am sure he does) and the look of satisfaction on his face.  Especially when he gets what he wants and to just be a dog.  After taking him for his weekly visit to PetSmart, Aeon had a bath and a brushing, so I couldn't resist a few photos to capture his handsome face, and beautiful coat.  He's still getting bigger and more handsome by the day.  He weighed 68.2 lbs last week, and after this week's weigh in on sunday he is 70.2.  He's been gaining about 3-4 lbs per week so we were surprised he was only up by two.  But wow, 70 lbs now, maybe he is going to slow down now?  There's just more of him to love, and I do, I do!

That's a precious face!

Aeon likes to stand up here and look out from our deck.

Seeing something of interest over there!

Nice stance!

He's so cute and I think he knows it!

"Mommy said something about the 4th of July and treats, there better be a few for this pose!"

I was told about this frozen dog treat and got some for Aeon...

Aeon enjoying his 'Frosty Paws' frozen treat!  He licked the bowl clean!

On our way to PetSmart!  Aeon is excited now when he goes in the car!

Enjoying the ride.

Aeon got new toys too!

Keeping the new toys close by!

~ Tammy's Tip Today ~ Toasty Tips

I'd like to make a toast...

Here are a couple of toasty tips that will make you the toast of the kitchen!

Someone suggests turning the toaster on its side, place bread slice with cheese on top into slot, then toast it.
Another way to make a grilled cheese sandwich!  Especially for those that do not have a toaster oven, and also no need for a pan or butter like a usual grilled cheese sandwich.
Hmmm, I'm thinking you would want to be on the alert for your toasted cheese slice to pop out... might want to have a plate ready or a catchers mitt?  And, you shouldn't leave this unattended and definitely wouldn't want the cheese to burn, or worse catch fire!  Geez, take caution and be careful if trying this one!

* * *

I really like this one.
Sounds like my kind of BLT sandwich!

A toast to toast!...

Local movie making!

Locals are star struck with the sight of movie star Adam Sandler here in Buford, GA to make his latest movie!  This location is right around the corner from a couple of restaurants that we like to go to!

"Actor Adam Sandler waves to a small crowed of people watching as crews film the movie "Blended" on W. Shadburn Avenue in downtown Buford Tuesday. The movie, scheduled for release in May 2014, stars Sandler and Drew Barrymore."

Perhaps we will see some familiar sites in the scenes of the movie!...

Jewelry by Tammy ~ Black and Gold sets

A few of my favorites from the past that I had not shared.  Although some were a little more time consuming to create, I really like the end result.

Black and gold looks nice together if you ask me.  It's one of my favorite combinations.

Flowers for me?

It's really very nice when your Honey brings you flowers!  Out of the blue, no special occasion or anything even.  I was feeling quite pleased and appreciative, but then suddenly I find my self wondering, "What have I done?"  Wait a minute, more to the truth is I'm wondering, "Hmmm, what has he done?"*tapping my fingers*  I actually said both thoughts out loud and he quickly replied while sporting a big ole smile, "Nothing, I just wanted to get you flowers and to tell you how much I love you."   Aww, be still my beating heart!  Well, while feeling quite surprised and grateful, with a school girl blush and flirty glance I smiled and replied, "Thanks Honey, that was very nice of you.  I love you too."  Pretty sweet actually, and he definitely earned some Hubby points.  He had simply gone to the store to pick up a few breakfast items and returned with flowers too!  Oh and he also cooked breakfast, so I was feeling especially pampered!  What a guy, he sure does have his moments!  Yeah, gotta love it when they pitter-pat that heart, ya know?!*wink*

What the...Friday?

an unusual event or item, something of question, or

things that make you go...hmmm?

What the...Friday
is that?:

Wow...This truck was shot full of holes!

Well that thought was 'shot full of holes' actually, since these are stickers.  I thought they were real, but the Hubs viewed them at a closer point and convinced me otherwise.
Ah shoot, fooled me!  I thought it funny though.
I guess they make having the dents seem not as bad, eh?

This could be a funny thing to prank someone with, or an April Fool's gag!
(Provided those little 'stickers' come off easily!) *giggles*

~ Tammy's Tip Today ~ Easy Corn-on-the-cob with no silk thread mess!

I love corn-on-the-cob.  Fresh corn-on-the-cob says "Summer" to me.  The smell, the taste.  I have always enjoyed cooking corn-on-the-cob right in the husks on the grill.  I also learned that I could cook it in the microwave, or even in the standard oven (I've cooked it that way in the wintertime before).*wink*  I had noticed somewhere out there on the wide, wonderful, web, a claim that you could cook corn-on-the-cob, then remove the husks without the silk threads mess that one usually encounters when dealing with the whole shucking of the husks, or removal of the husks, either way you want to put it.  Well, being the lover of corn-on-the-cob that I am, I had to give it a try myself.  I mean the proof is in the pudding, right?...well corn-on-the-cob in this instance.

Much to my surprise and complete delight, I am happy to say this is AWESOME!
This makes me love corn-on-the-cob even more!  Wow...what a wonderful thing!
Why haven't I known this my whole life?

I often say "You learn something new everyday", and this lesson learned is definitely worth sharing with others, so I prepared this tutorial to show just how simple and easy it truly is!

Here is how to achieve this.  It's so simple!

Start with fresh corn-on-the-cob with the husks on, cook it with the husks still on in what ever way you choose, grill, microwave, or oven.  (I usually soak mine in a water bath before grilling) I cooked mine for 4-5 minutes in the microwave.  If using the grill I would give it a half hour or more and turn it often, away from direct heat.  In the oven at least 20 minutes at 400 degrees.

After cooking, be careful it's hot so carefully hold with a pot holder or gloved hand, then cut just up from the bottom end where you can feel the cob, about an inch.  Cut through the cob completely.

This is where I made my cut.

Now, remember it's hot, and squeeze the top end pushing the cob out the other end.

Continue pushing the corn cob out.
Look how nice and clean the corn-on-the-cob looks!

Wow!...Amazing!

"mmm, it's ready for some butter, salt and pepper", I say!

Or cut the corn from the cob, and have some very fresh corn-on-the-cob flavor!

Enjoy!...

Stars and Stripes Door Decor

Time for some red, white and blue!

I bought this cute star flag with the streamers of red, white and blue last year.  I decided to add a couple of small flags to give it more glory!  I like it even better now!
This is my patriotic greeting to passersby and my welcome to guests.

All ready for the Fourth of July now!...

FIREFIGHTER'S PRAYER
When I'm called to duty God wherever flames may rage
grant me the strength to save a life whatever be its age

Help me to embrace a little child before it is too late
or save an older person from the horror of that fate

Enable me to be alert to hear the weakest shout
and quickly and efficiently put the fire out

I want to fill my calling Lord and give the best in me
to guard my every neighbor and protect his property

And if according to your will I am to lose my life
God bless with your protecting hand my children and my wife

A thoughtful tribute!  Well done Mr. Hunt!

Hurray July!

... and hurray for the red, white, and blue!

Wow it's July already!  And where did June go?  It went by too fast!  In just a couple of days we will be celebrating our nations Independence with all the sparkle and glory that is the Fourth of July.  I know Summer has only just begun, but I want to slow down time and savor each and every moment of it.  As a child July always felt like it was smack dab in the middle of Summer since school would be out from early June through the end of August, or early September around Labor Day.  So many childhood memories of all of the Summertime fun.  This gal loves the Summertime and wants to just meander slowly through this wonderful season!

My inner child wants to go out and play in the sun on this beautiful day today!...
