Our Breakfast Area Decor for Spring

Welcome beautiful May!

It will be only a day longer than April, but I sure hope it feels longer than that...April went so fast!

This is our breakfast area decor for Spring, 

Enjoying this view of our breakfast area and beyond.  Spring is showing off on this beautiful first day of May.  Green being one of my favorite colors it brings me joy, and it's going on outside and inside.

I love this heart shaped tin, and this beautiful green painted wood and iron piece I’ve paired it with. So easy to change up for the seasons.  Both are favorite thrift store finds.

I fell for the heart shapes within them...because “hearts” are a happy-heart making thing for me!

Patriotic Decor

Happy 4th of July!

A little patriotic decor in our upstairs hallway.

Wishing everyone a happy Independence Day! And even though it may be different this year, I hope we all can enjoy a wonderful celebration of this beautiful country and our home sweet home!

Our Golden boy Aeon isn’t so sure about all of the noise associated with this holiday, but we keep reassuring him that it’s all good and everything is fine, that he’s safe here with us, has our love and protection, and extra hugs!
We celebrate our flag, our independence and this great country today. It’s a great day to celebrate, a great day for America!

Hello JULY

And, then it was July!

I was thinking ahead about February and Valentine's Day when I spotted this lovely heart!

I ordered this beautiful faux white-rose covered heart from target.com.  A little gift to myself, 'cause I just had to have it!

It originally had several tiny green leaves throughout which I simply removed because I prefer this all white look.  I’m so happy with it and I really love it!

I hope you are feeling extra loved today!

Thrifty Winter Decor

Our first Monday of February!  The sun is shining and it’s a bright and beautiful first Monday of this new month.

This is my current decor for winter over here in front of the window.  I have a simple touch of greenery, winter picks of pine, and pine cones tucked into my thrifted tin heart, displayed on my thrifted green painted wood & iron decor piece.

Well, that was a mouthful but a precise description for this view in our breakfast area.  Another heart item that I love that works well for February decor too.  These thrift store finds are a couple of my favorites at the moment.   I also added some evergreens to my candlesticks.  I love hearts and I love green so this is making me smile!

The temperatures are promising for this first week of February, in the 70’s today!

I’m optimistic about spring arriving soon!

Hellooo FEBRUARY!

Well, winter’s certainly not over, but January is!  We’re even closer to spring!

And, YAY!...It’s the month of hearts & love!  Time to bring out the heart decor.  These are a couple of my favorite heart items.  I found the heart wreath long ago and the decor beads were found around this time last year.  Hearts are a favorite of mine so they are present in my home throughout the year, not just for February.   

My perpetual calendar keeps me up to date, that is if I remember to flip over the days and months!(wink)

I know I shouldn't rush time, but I'm so ready for Spring to get here!

Fall Decor~Greens, Golds and Pumpkins

How is it the last weekend of October already?!  We’ve had a couple chilly mornings, but it’s been warm most days and there is still plenty of green outside.  My clematis vine even has new blooms on it!  We’ve definitely had some weather swings, but that is true to the South!

A touch of Fall over here in front of the window is a match to the greens and golds in the view beyond!  I found this beautiful heart shaped tin container at the thrift store, I love it all the more now filled with greenery and a Fall variety!

My happy heart loves a thrifty bargain, and anything heart shaped!!!

Fun Kitchen Decor Idea - February/Valentine's Day~ Mini Ladder /Dish Towel Holder

I’ve been enjoying this sweet display for February and in honor of Valentine’s Day!

I created this simple little *ladder for displaying decorative dish towels in our kitchen.  I may have screamed out loud when I saw these sweet towels at Target... because they’re adorable and sooo me.

Hello February~The Month of LOVE ~

It's February!  The month of LOVE.

Hearts and Flowers are two of my favorite things.  I use them a lot in my decor.  So when February rolls around I'm all in on the Valentine's Day decor.  I have hearts-a-plenty, but that doesn't keep me from adding more if I come across a heart of two, or many!

These sweet little lovelies were a nice surprise found at Target, I couldn't resist scoring them from the dollar spot area, they’re perfect for me and Valentine’s Day!  And at only a few dollars they're perfect low-cost decorating items, I love that!

Hearts make me smile, I enjoy seeing them.  I tuck them in here and there.  They are little reminders of love and that makes me happy too!    

We’ve had a beautiful first weekend of February.  The month of LOVE is off to a great start!

Cutting Board/Serving Board ~ Chalk Painted & Stenciled

It’s always nice to love something all the more. And, so gratifying when you’re pleased with your own work!

- I changed the look of my sweet cutting board with some chalk paint, and a stencil!

I just love what a little paint can do. And, I love the new look of my cutting board. It gets used as a serving piece rather than a cutting board, so I chose to paint it!

I really loved the cutting board, I was just wanting a different look for it.  I decided to paint it to lighten it up.

I gave it a coat of white chalk paint, then let it dry completely.  After that I used a stencil.

I did the stencil in the same white paint so it was a subtle embellishment. I gave the board a coat of wax after everything was all dry to seal the paint and add a little sheen.

Gold Leaf Project

My first experience using gold leaf, and I’m in love!

This gift from my daughter, a wooden heart with a little heart cut out had silver leaf where I have added gold leaf!  She said as she gave it to me “I know you’ll probably chalk paint this!”  She knows my love for gold, and for changing items to better suit my taste, or for using paint to do so!

Painting it just wasn’t going to do it, and since it already had silver leaf on it, I figured gold leaf was definitely the way to go!  I love this beautiful heart set all the more now!

Materials needed:

leaf metal

metal adhesive

small paintbrushes

I purchased my supplies at the craft store.  The Leaf metal and metal leaf adhesive, they were about fifteen bucks total, and I had some small paintbrushes on hand already.  There are easy to follow instructions on both items.  There was more than enough materials to do this project and I have plenty left over.  This project was super easy, a little messy, but easy!  It took some drying time for the adhesive to become tacky, but the project didn't take long overall.

Basically all that is needed it brushing on the metal adhesive, let it dry until tacky, then use small torn pieces of the metal leaf and place on the tacky areas, then brush or rub over the metal covered areas.

The edge of the large heart here is finished, the small heart is still in the original silver leaf.   I just prefer gold more than silver!

I'm so pleased with the results! 

It was a fun and rewarding project!  Now I’m looking around my house and wondering “hmmm, what else can I gold leaf!”

PS: I did chalk paint the other heart piece here, it once was all gold - I used white chalk paint to paint it and then after dry wet sanded away the paint on the raised design revealing the gold detail.

I am so pleased with the results of these beautiful heart items!

Sweet Decor for February/Valentines Day

Love is in the air!  And, in the kitchen!

Because... The kitchen is the

heart of the home!

I always enjoy making my sweetheart something sweet.  With it being Valentine’s Day tomorrow it’s a good day to do just that!

Speaking of sweet...How sweet are these items I recently found at Target?  The wooden heart was in the Dollar spot area, only three dollars, and there were some that had a pink stripe instead of the red.  The tea towel was too sweet to leave behind, so in my cart it went.  A few dollars spent to create a sweet February/Valentine themed corner near our kitchen.  I love Target!

It's February...Love is in the air!Hearts & Love Decor

Love is in the air!  Valentines, hearts, and love!

I have hearts throughout my home, all year, not just for the month of February.  But, when February rolls around I do enjoy using more hearts in decorating my home.

My love for “hearts” has grown over the years, and I find it difficult to not bring every heart I see home with me. I found the sweet “Together Forever” pillow years ago.  The heart with sachet and the heart basket were thrift store finds.  Using just a few items here, I simply decorated this area with thoughts of love & hearts. 

I’ve always loved the heart shape and been drawn to hearts. My family knowing my love for hearts, often gift me with them, too.  My heart is always happy when finding hearts and when receiving hearts from those I love!

Happy February!...

Move over February

So long to February, this month of 'love & hearts' is over today.  But, my heart could not be happier as "Spring" officially begins in twenty days!!  Twenty days!!  Can you feel my excitement?!

Bring on March, and bring on Spring...I am ready!! 

Sharing one more heart for February.  This painted wooden heart is/was a Christmas ornament that my heart is happy to see all year long, and in different areas of my home!

It's one of many hearts around my place that I love to display.  I simply dangled it from this sparkly decorative box and then had to capture a photo of it, 'cause they looked sooo good together.  Even if the box lid was a bit crooked...oops!  Real life is imperfect!*wink*  Just keepin' it real!!

Come on in March, I've been anxiously awaiting your arrival!

Valentine's Day - Tablescape

❤️Happy Valentine's Day❤️ 

Wishing you a wonderful day full of much L❤️VE and great happiness, and enjoying special moments with the ones you hold so dear and close to your heart!

We will be going out for dinner this evening to a favorite restaurant with a couple of our dearest friends!

My L❤️VE and I already had a special dinner at home celebrating L❤️VE day earlier!  This is the sweet tablescape I created for that special evening!

The beautiful double gold heart is actually a wedding cake topper!  I bought it anyway 'cause I just had to have it, it was just so pretty, it's hearts, and I L❤️VE it!

A little something sweet for my sweatheart!  Chocolate makes everything special, if you ask me!

Heart happy in my Sitting Room

I love this corner of our sitting room. I felt it was perfect to share for the month of "Love."

I found the sweet little "Together Forever" pillow years ago. My love for "hearts" has grown over the years, and I find it hard to not bring every heart I see home with me!

The wire heart basket was a flea market find as was the gold heart sachet! I love getting to love what others no longer do. It makes my heart happy!

I put my heart into my home, along with items that reflect my love for hearts.

I gave this lamp shade a simple little makeover by adding roses to it, which I handmade.  I love how they kind of resemble old fashion roses. I think it has a romantic feel about it, but it would be so sweet for a little girl's room, too!  I have another in the plans.

An afternoon, some craft glue and crepe paper, and I gave my sweet little lamp a new look! I did this a couple years ago and it still looks so pretty!  If you like to see the post on how I gave my lamp a makeover, visit this link here.

I have this pretty lamp on my wicker desk in our sitting area, it sits across from the corner that is pictured above.

The pretty little ring-dish heart is a precious gift from my daughter with the sweet message "love you Mom" on it.  That makes my heart happy!

Happy Decorating!

Spreading some "Love & Hearts" around

I decided to do a little decorating by adding some touches of Love & Hearts in honor of Valentine's Day this month.  So I'm spreading a little extra Love around the house!  I wanted to do something a little different with more of a neutral look, for this spot.  I gathered a couple of my hearts from around my home and also added some love.

I dressed up this little area with a touch of love and hearts.  I can't resist heart shaped items, that cute iron piece is actually a drawer pull, and the burlap heart stand has a clip on the back for notes and such.

I found the book "From my heart to yours" at a thrift store.  The book below it too, the cover was torn so I helped it by removing it the rest of the way and added some jute twine to it.  I've done that to a few other old books now and I enjoy using them as extra decorating pieces, plus I like that they are neutral in color.

A closer view.  I took this photo with the lights on since it was a gray day, the Love is a wooden cut-out I got from Michael's a while back, along with a Live and Laugh to complete one of my favorite phrases...Live, Laugh, Love!

I found the cute burlap heart stand last year at Hobby Lobby along with the sweet, little, chippy, white painted drawer pull.  I'm in love with scrolled iron!  The hearts quickly became part of my heart collection!

I even added some LOVE and a heart to my chalkboard!  Speaking of scrolled iron!!...I fell in love with this when I saw it and had to have it!  I've had plans to repaint the chalkboard, it had a long scratch in it when I found it, it's sits on the "to do" list!

The true sappy gal that I am at heart, I've always been drawn to anything "Love" & "Hearts!"  Hearts can usually be found around my home, and or something with the word love on it, at anytime of the year!

I have a few other little decorating ideas I may get to, involving love and hearts, I'll share them later!

A bit of LOVE & Hearts for Valentine's Day

There was once a time when I may have added just a wreath or perhaps something with hearts on it to the front door for February, and in celebration of Valentine's Day.  With so much available these days, and so many creative ideas floating around, I have been more into adding some hearts and love, and yes, even a touch of red to my decor when February rolls around. 

I love my display shelf, it is my go to spot for holidays and in-between seasons.  I enjoy changing the look of it and seeing something different, since I often get the itch to change my decor.  I also like to change up my fireplace mantle too, but mostly prefer to do that for the change of seasons and Christmas.  My display shelf was something I wanted to add for those other holidays that come around throughout the year.  It gives me a space where I can be creative by changing the look of it using different themes and items, and I always like to challenge myself to do it in a cost friendly way.

I put together a heart and love display with a few things I already had and a few inexpensive items I recently purchased, all for under ten dollars. -The burlap heart in the middle (it has a clip/photo holder on the back), the rock with "Love is patient" on it, the "Love lives here" sign, paper doilie hearts, a Valentine's Day card, and the cute little red hearts and beads necklaces which I used for a garland along the front.-

I got into my craft stash and used some rubber stamps, a red ink pad, and a plain piece of card stock for the "I (heart) U" and then placed it in a pretty photo frame.  The wooden clipboard holds an actual Valentine's Day card, I liked that the front of it is a large gathering of heart balloons all forming a heart, some of them are raised red hearts.  I love hearts!

Since I love all things "hearts" this was a fun project for me!  And, I'll admit that I am a bit of a heart-gushin', sappy romantic when it comes to love, too!

Hello JULY! Please linger a while longer than June, I'm certainly hoping you will!

In just a few days we will celebrate the annual holiday of our nations independence along with many other Americans on the Fourth of July!   A day for sharing time with family and friends while enjoying picnics and bar-b-ques, dazzled by sparklers and fireworks lighting the night with grand patriotic flare.  Viewing countless amounts of our American flags waving as our grand ole flags of red, white and blue are so proudly displayed.  A day of celebration to feel especially proud to be a part of this great nation, and great pride in being an American.  Happy July to everyone, and may we all have a safe and happy Fourth of July!

In honor of this month and the Fourth of July holiday, this heart is on my front door proudly displaying our red, white and blue and our love for the USA!  I found this metal heart with the painted flag detail at a country store, and I knew the minute I laid eyes on it that it had to be mine!

I found this cute sparkly heart at the dollar store and I just had to bring it home, it's now displayed on my frig for July too.
