Last of the Winter Decor

It's a bright, beautiful and sunny Monday here today!  Looking outside it's a bit deceiving with the look of warmth but it's bitter cold!  I'm staying warm inside my home where I'm surrounded by beautiful things that I love.

I've had this beautiful table for several years, I purchased it along with three other smaller tables as a set from Pier One.  It's a favorite, and a favorite for restyling.  I get it just the way I like it and then I'll move one thing, or add something else, and I create a new look.

The table has been home to the beautiful lamp (from Hobby Lobby), for sometime now, I have it on an auto-timer so it turns on at dark, just in case I forget to leave some lights on before going out, while still the light of day.

I had the beautiful mirror from Kirkland's first, and after getting the table I then found the iron piece that I added to the bottom.  I felt it pulled it all together.  That mosaic mirror vase was a gift to myself before the holidays, I found it at Ross along with a pair of matching candle holders.  They're even more beautiful in person and, Hello!...they are gold and sparkly gorgeousness!

I do have a love for just about anything iron and with a scroll.  Here's a lovely piece I found recently at the thrift store for just a couple of dollars.  I wasn't sure what I'd do with it, but I had to have it!  I added a glass plate, some greenery and a gold candle to the top, and one of my decorative balls sits in the bottom.  More of my low cost decorating!

We've been trying to stay cozy and warm on these last few days of January.  So true the phrase "Baby it's cold outside!"  Typical for this time of year I suppose, even for us here in Georgia.

I'm ready for my touches of winter decor to become touches of SPRING!!!  Looking forward to February and seeing the signs of Spring!

Our Family Room - Winter Decor

There's a calm, peaceful feeling when things are back to an uncluttered state after the holiday decor removal and pack up.  A fresh start, and a clean slate to work with.

Our family room is our 'living' room, and this is my cozy corner.  I've been enjoying the look in this room.  I wanted a relaxed, comfy, and cozy feel, since it is winter after all.

I'm loving my new large wall art piece from Kirkland's, also the gold touches on my pillows from Ross and the gold glass candle holders from my daughter that are up on my wrought iron sconces.

On the other side of the room is our fireplace and mantel are, I kept a few basics from what was used over the holidays and kept it simple for the winter look.

I made just a few small changes after the holidays were over.  The room feels fresh and light, which is always good during the gloomy days of winter.

Thrifted Tray/Chalkboard

It's long past the holidays and I've had an itch to get at some thrifty treasures and find some crafty re-purposing items, so I got to scratch that itch!  I love a good bargain!  But doesn't everyone?  I know I've said "I love a good bargain" time and again, and again!

This tin tray/chalkboard was a bargain find that I fell for the second I saw it!  Yeah, it's a tray and a chalkboard.   I have it displayed here on a stand since I used it as a chalkboard with a message written on it, for over the holidays.  After which, I erased the message and as a winter statement simply hung from its handle a hand crafted snowflake I made from wooden clothes pins.

I had to have this pretty tray!  I loved the look of it and the raised detail around the edges, and at first considered whether or not to repaint it.  I do like it as is for now.  How great that it only cost me seven bucks?!

I know one thing for sure, not everyone enjoys thrift store shopping, but I am one of those who do.  Thrift, second hand, antique, flea markets and shops, or what ever you want to call them.  There's lots of trash-to-treasure goodness out there my friends.

I enjoy re-loving something that someone no longer loved.  Finding something that I wasn't expecting to fall in love with!  And, I also enjoy giving items a make-over if I'm not fully loving the items look.   That just adds to loving it all the more and my heart is happy when I get to be crafty and creative, too!

Winter themed shelf

Oh there's a chill in the air and it feels like winter!  After the holidays I put together a winter themed display on my shelf.

Though we don't get a lot of winter weather here, it does get cold from time to time.  This weekend was been cold and wet!  Since it's been very chilly here I thought that was a good time to share my shelf I decorated for winter.

I found the small glass demi-john jar a while back at Hobby Lobby.  I loved that it was small in comparison to the ones I've seen, and thought I had wanted.  It's nice when things work out that way, just wait a while and you'll possibly change your mind about something.   I added some greenery and dressed up the demi-john with a tasseled tieback.

I've had the chalkboard (also from hobby lobby), I put it away last year and found it with the phrase "Baby it's cold outside" still on it and simply retraced the letters so it would stand out.  The other side is burlap and has a note clip attached.

The winter candles were from Kohl's, I picked them up last minute just before Christmas on mark-down.  They have been moved around the house a bit since I got them.  I really liked that they looked like birch trees, and they had a touch of winter greenery and pine cones.

Mr Snowman was found at Ross, I think he's pretty cute and he has a fragrance sachet inside.  He keeps watch and he makes me smile even if I am feeling unhappy about the cold weather!

A couple pine cones and the "January" block from my mini wooden calendar, completes my winter theme.  I'm hoping winter will hurry up and pass on by.  Stay warm!

Happy decorating!,,,

My Coffee Station

I created a Coffee Station area in my kitchen.  I enjoy hot beverages.  I've always loved coffee, I drink it pretty much everyday!  I also drink tea, of the iced and hot variety, and hot cocoa from time to time too.

It's especially nice to enjoy hot beverages when it's cold outside.  Nothing like a hot cup of goodness to warm you up.

I used my tiered tray and added some essentials to be on display and on the ready.  Nearby I have other essentials, for making the perfect cup of warmth.  Coffee, Tea, Cocoa anyone?

This certainly makes my morning better and gets my day off to a good start!  And, when having guests, this also makes it easy for them to have what they need to make the perfect cup of their choosing for themselves!

Wishing you many a good mornings!

I hope you're having a great day!...

Winter decorating ideas

For winter decorating, to help beat the winter blahs, brighten and warm things up, I like using tones of white along with gold and a bit of sparkle.

It's an easy transition from the holiday decor.  And, it works well with my neutral color scheme!

My pretty and decorative cage is a fun home decor item that can be accessorized many different ways, using many different items.   The sweet painted iron bird is a perfect addition displayed on a white ceramic pedestal.  I added a few small and mini sized pine cones, and also added a touch of glam and gold sparkle inside, and on the top.

Some plain LED candles are dressed up by using ribbons with lots of sparkle, and mini pine cones.  Apothocary jars are another home decor item that can be accessorized many different ways, they can be filled with many different items such as the gold acorns I used in mine.

What is winter without a snowman?  [We don't typically see much snow here in the south, however we had a forecast of snow over the weekend, but, were one area that didn't really get any.]  This little fella is a porcelain keepsake ornament that comes out at the holidays and is one of a few snowman around our place that are not made out of real snow ...but I'm OK with that!  He gets to stay around a while longer after packing away the other holiday decor! ...'Cause "baby it's cold outside!"

A gold basket/bowl holds some of my pine cones that I lightened using bleach.

This is a beautiful addition to my home, my winter decor, and all year long.  My search was over the moment I found this lovely pitcher, and a matching bowl!  I'm so happy I had passed over a few other pitchers before finding this one.  It's a thrifty find that I treasure.

A layering of plates, one clear and one gold, placed behind the pitcher and bowl as a backdrop for the set makes it stand out, and it adds more glam and sparkle!

Speaking of sparkle!  Pictured here are two gifts from my Daughters, the gold-glittered pine cone tree, and the gold magnolia dish beneath my glass cloche.
Both of my girls know my love for gold, magnolias, and things that sparkle. They spoil me with beautiful gifts to treasure.

These are just a few of my ideas for decorating during winter, for me I like light, bright, and cheerful.  That's a welcoming thing on a dreary cold winter's day in January!

It's a New Year!

Happy New Year!

Hello 2017!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and hopefully all of your wishes came true, and your new year is off to a great start.  Happy New Year!!!

~After a lovely long weekend with our family here enjoying Christmas/New Year celebrating, it's a very quiet day today.  I'm missing everyone dearly along with the sounds, the voices and the laughter, the pitter-patter and many a giggle of the little ones too!  I'll be looking forward to Christmas next year as I'm wishing this one wasn't over already...

We had a great time with our daughters, SILs, and granddaughters all here over a long weekend.  As always time flies when you're having fun, and it was over much too quickly.  I'll be enjoying a few more days of my Christmas decor, and then this coming weekend it will be officially over and time to pack everything away until next year.

I'm enjoying this look and think it will carry through a little longer for winter, minus the Christmas trees and Christmas wreaths!

The large wall art piece was an early Christmas gift, I just love it!  I'm so glad the hubby liked it too and helped me hang it in our family room just before Christmas!

I wish it could be Christmas all year long!

Happy New Year!...
