Visitors for the Labor Day weekend

It's always nice to have a long three day weekend to enjoy, and to get to enjoy it with family makes it all the better.  Time for good backyard BBQ foods, and fun with family!

Our Granddaughters were here spending time with us over the holiday weekend and through Labor Day, while their parents enjoyed a little (childless) getaway to Charleston, SC.  The girls are adorable most of the time and I'd be telling big ol' fibs if I said they were perfect every minute.  But all was well and sometimes even Grandma has to say "NO!", although Grandpa can all too often be the biggest kid in the room.  It's also hard to revoke the approval given by him of the oldest Granddaughter's request, to eat a mixture of Fruit Loops and Cocoa Pebbles together, as she stands there with a huge grin on her face!

We enjoyed having them here, and kept them both entertained with a few outings and interesting adventures.  They enjoyed some fun time with us at the pet shop and saw many a furry friend there, as they both giggled and smiled most of the time that we were there.  A lunch at SteviB's filled with pizza of just about every type you could imagine, and some I've never thought of before.  Along with dessert pizza with sugary sweetness of apples and cinnamon, and peaches, and even chocolate too.  On another occasion they went to McDonalds with their Aunt and me, and played a good while at the indoor playground, and then we all enjoyed chocolate dipped ice cream cones afterwards.  This is where I insert the part that they did in fact have other good foods while with us like chicken, vegetables, fruit, cottage cheese, oatmeal, milk and juice! A little shopping to pick out a few fun things was also part of the fun!  Movies at home and a few cartoons filling the gaps, between lots of coloring in coloring books or imagination time while emptying the toy box or "Box of Treasure" as they called it.

I think I probably said a few times "I know why we have our children when we are younger!"  Whewww!  They can wear you out!  Little giggle filled bursts of energy, jumping and chasing, and never a moment of sitting still.  Until night-night comes and the story telling closes their eyes and puts their little minds to sleep, with sweet dreams of more special treats to come tomorrow!  One of the nice things when you are an empty-nester, is you can fill up the nest with grand kids!  Sometimes there is nothing sweeter than hearing your five year old grandchild say "I love you Grandma", or as in the the case of the two year old that says it as "ah may gammaw".  Aww...Be still my beating heart!

They are truly a picture of 'Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice'
