A Decorated Christmas

I had a bit of a late start on decorating for this Christmas, mostly due the late Thanksgiving holiday this year.  After which I've also been slow getting at taking the photos, and sharing them.  Christmas Eve, Eve is a perfect time to do so!  I always enjoy opening up the Christmas decorations that have been stored away, and seeing all the beautiful things that have been out of site for a year.  The memories of many of the items always makes me smile, and there are things I have even forgotten about until I view them once again after such a long time.

I love Christmas and truly enjoy this time of year.  We will be waiting to share our Christmas all together with our family on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.  Come on in and I'll share with you some of the sights of Christmas at our place.

My chalkboard is a fun addition to my kitchen area.  I like adding a festive greeting or something fun as the seasons change and during holidays, and even some birthdays too!  For Christmas, a "Merry Christmas" greeting was just the right thing, along with my attempt at a poinsettia with bow and ribbon, also some holly berry and leaves.

Dressing the dining table is always fun.  A bright afternoon lightens the room with a sunny glow.

By evening the lights from the chandelier add sparkle to the room.  I love the elegance of the golden touches and the gold leaf charger plates, they are just perfect for the holidays!  I feel that layers often make it more interesting when setting the table, and I used a few for this look.  The acrylic napkin holders have an area that's a little bud vase, so I placed some holiday greenery and a golden pine cone in them, they're so cute!  I tucked in a candy cane at each place setting too, mmm chocolate mint candy canes!  My Mother gave me the pretty gravy bowl along with a few other matching pieces, and the bread basket is from a set of three my Sister sent me years ago.  These are a couple of my favorite items and each one reminds me of them, and they're perfectly me, it's just my style!

This area serves as a buffet and display area.  I put this 'Buffet Table' together years ago by using two large pillars and a piece of glass with beveled edges.  More golden touches over here too.  Some of my crystal pieces are on display here.  Above on the mirror is a winter wreath I made some years ago.  It may surprise you what it is made of, and you can see how I made it here.

This little table comes in handy for many things, sometimes it's even a hiding place for extra items.  shhh...don't peek under the table cloth!  Some candy canes are on the ready for passers-by.  A "Merry Christmas" greeting on the pretty plate, and a glass jar filled with pine cones that have touches of gold from a spray of gold paint, all add a little something to this corner.

The mantel is a great display area to change for the holidays.  I found some of these items last year and they quickly became new favorites.  The gold trees were 'must haves' when I saw them!

Our beautiful Christmas Tree!
I did a bit more of a simplistic decorating approach this year, it's elegant yet simple!  Less is more, and more with less!  I added a few items to dress the stairs.  I love this slender tree.  I've had bigger trees before, but I like that this slender tree doesn't take up so much room.  I do love to load up the tree with ornaments though, more, more, more!

Aeon likes this spot to admire this new addition to our home, this is his first Christmas with us and seeing a Christmas tree.  He may be another good reason that I kept the decor simple this year, even though he is big, he is still a bit of a puppy.
He might be thinking that all of the ball ornaments are just for him.  I'll be watching him closely!
